25-30 January: Off-piste in Megève
Today is our last day in Megève and we had a great skiing in 40 cm (even more in some places!) of light powder! As the ski resort is low in altitude, new snow fell without anywind and off piste has been awesome...
The ski resort was very quite all week long and it is a good base for off piste initiation and /or family skiing with young children (paradise for them).
Off piste domaine in Megève is not really big but the ski resort is pretty, offering nice easy skiing in between of pine forests. A couple of great daytours with skins are possible, ideal to discover touring activity. The background is glorious with ranges of huge mountains like Mont blanc, Les Drus or Chamonix needles.
Megève is obviously an expensive ski resort dedicated to rich people and we confirm it! Huge concentration of luxurious cars, expensive fourrure mantels and... a ordinary hat at 145€!!!
You have really the feeling that Megève is a winter aera for parisian bourgeoisie and nobility!
BUT, fortunately, there are some friendly exceptions...
First of all, lift pass is not more expensive than anywhere else! the proximity of Praz sur Arly's ski resort (less than 5km) add to the choice you can have.
Second, we have the pleasure to give you a good deal with the following accomodation, located very close of Megève's center:
Kate and Paul Gibson will welcome you with enthusiasm and decontraction, in their comfortable chalet, where you will feel like at home... Ready to answer to any of your desires (or nearly...), they will try hard to make your stay a perfect holiday...
We all spent a lovely week there and we are coming back next year with the same group! See you in 2011 Kate and Paul...
