C'était notre séminaire vignerons cette semaine, et pour honorer les excellents vins présents, quoi de mieux que la cuisine généreuse de Fiorella??...
D'hiver en hiver, nous guettons nos retrouvailles avec excitation, car l'amitié qui nous lie maintenant dépasse largement les plaisirs épicuriens que nous aimons partager! Et c'est pourquoi nous avons été très heureux de vous faire connaître un endroit aussi unique et rare, que Crampiolo.
La rencontre de Fiorella et Luca avec nos vignerons a été à la hauteur de ce que chaque jour nous avons bu et mangé! Un parfait hymne au délices des papilles et du nez!
Tout a été parfait ou presque, cette semaine...
D'abord les vins! Fait assez rare pour être mentionné un seul était bouchonné sur les 80 bouteilles ouvertes! Festival de grands crûs classés ou "petits" vins inconnus, sans oublier l'incontournable "fruit défendu" du clairon, boire ces nectars est une jouissance intense dont on devient vite accro!
Les repas concoctés par Fiorella ensuite! Du steak d'espadon au tartare de veau, en passant par les pizzas maison, Fiorella nous présentait ses plats chaque soir, comme une offrande ample et généreuse... cette cuisine du coeur s'est mariée à merveille avec les vins passionnants de notre équipe...
Le ski? Neige de printemps et poudreuse, nous avons goûté à tout! Plusieurs sommets au menu (Albrunhorn, Pico Bandiera, Pico Corbernas...), les paysages hésitant entre de magnifiques forêts de mélèzes, et de belles ambiances haute montagne. Sous un soleil omniprésent, excepté une journée de brouillard épais, Chaque virage nous mettait en bouche pour la dégustation journalière!
A chaque retour de course le bar était "open" sur la montagne! Dans un cadre aussi idyllique, le cérémonial de la bière ou du pastis se transformait en discussion de comptoir, surtout entre Jiji et Christian, alors que Jean-Pierre tombait régulièrement du banc ou de la table! Dédé, tu nous manques pour les tenir!!
Au final cette semaine est passée très vite, trop vite... On vous embrasse tous très fort, en espérant voir Pierrot, Brigitte et même Etienne pour le millésime 2012! Un grand merci à toi Dédé, pour ta visite éclair, malgré ton emploi du temps familial chargé. Et n'oublies pas ma commande Jean-Pierre!
A l'année prochaine aussi, Fiorella et Luca, on s'impatiente déjà de revenir! Au risque de me répéter, Jean-Marc et moi vous remerciant du fond du coeur pour ce bonheur que vous nous offrez à chacun de nos séjours...
Spring Sun in the Val Devero, a very 'tasteful' experience!
This was our annual week with our Vignerons (wine growers). They call it their annual 'seminar' and is an excuse for friends to gather and compare their rather excellent produce. So to honour the excellent wines on show, what better choice than Fiorella's excellent cooking?
We really look forward to our annual winter reunion as the friendship that now binds us goes way beyond the epicurean delights we share together! It was for this reason that we were delighted to introduce them to a place as rare and unique as Crampiolo.
It was a delight to see the relationship develop between Fiorella and Luca and the Vignerons and it was perfectly matched by the food we ate and the wine we drank......a perfect serenade to the pleasures of the nose and tastebuds.
Everything was perfect......or almost perfect this week!
Let's begin with the wines! The first fact worth mentioning: only one corked bottle amongst the 80 bottles we opened! It was a festival of grands crus classes and 'little' unknown wines, without forgetting clairon's "forbidden fruit"! Drinking this nectar is an experience in itself that you can quickly become addicted to!
Next, a word about the meals Fiorella concocted for us! Each evening, she presented her offerings: Swordfish steaks with a veal tartare, homemade pizzas......cooking from the heart matched with the fascinating wines brought by our team. What a combination!
And the skiing? We had a bit of everything: spring snow and powder....There were a number of summits on the menu (Albrunhorn, Pico Bandiera, Pico Corbernas..) and the landscape alternated between the magnificent larch forests and some high mountain terrain. The sun stayed with us for all except one day when we had to endure thick fog. Each turn we made opened our appetites for the daily tastings!
At the end of each day's touring, the bar was 'open' on the mountain! Our usual ritual of having a beer or a pastis was elevated to new heights in such idyllic surroundings. It became more a of question of Jiji and Christian 'propping up the bar' whilst Jean-Pierre regularly slipped off either the bench or the table! Dede, where are you when we need you to keep these naughty boys in check!?
As ever, this week flew by...... far too quickly. We send you lots of love and hope to see Pierrot, Brigitte and even Etienne for the 2012 vintage! A special thank you to Dede for your lightning visit despite your heavy schedule with the family. And Jean-Pierre, don't forget my order!!
